First batch comprises of 61 rural/tribal districts from 13 states that has relatively low literacy level. In a decade, the entire 610 districts (Census, 2001) of our country will get covered.

Selected children of 12 -13 years irrespective of their sex, caste, creed and language from 122 villages from    these districts who are in 8 the standard and hail from families of poorest economic conditions are being supported for their studies.

Besides studies, these children will avail benefits of regular interactions and proximities through workshop and festive occasions so as to experience the spirit of diversity among them and at the same time feeling unity in their thoughts and deeds. These unique opportunities do build in them national characters and make them live and work for India and feel India proud of them.

Not only are these children supported but also their families in terms of festival gifts and insurance cover to provide the children an enabling environment for their better performance. Their schools will also be given support to maintain regular communication and support with the children under coverage. All the information of these children will be kept confidential.

As responsible citizens, each of these families shall undertake growing 50 saplings in a year in their neighborhood and make their environment richer by 500 trees over a period of 10 years – the period through which the children are supported for their complete education. These children in turn, as grown up adults shall begin to contribute 4% of their annual income for the NEST for the subsequent 10 years. NEST shall thus become a sustainable program by its 12th  year.

We are eager that every family proud of themselves and our India need to participate in this nation building project and we seek only `1250 PER YEAR. Each participant is required to contribute for a CONTINUOUS TEN YEARS.
